The 3/4/5 can be used when laying out the corners of a building, offsetting a point at 90° to a highway centerline, and squaring up footing formwork.
Laying out the corners of a 30' x 40' building can be performed using 3/4/5. The method shown requires 3 persons to hold a single 100' chain at the points.
