field notes for leveling

Scope

As stated earlier in Chapter 3, Fieldwork Practices, notekeeping can be in three forms—tabulation, description, or sketch. Because of the quantity of numbers that are read and recorded, tabulation is by far the best method of notekeeping for leveling work. The user should study it carefully and look at the sample set of notes to determine where numbers have been recorded and calculated. Always be sure to follow the standard practices of good leveling.
