The Construction
Layout Computatons seminar is a basic review of the computations
associated with construction layout. It includes discussions of
traverse computations, coordinate inverses, intersections of lines,
radial stake-out, overall applications of plane coordinates to construction
layout, horizontal and vertical curves, offset curves, and earthwork
volume calculations. Participants will develop an understanding
of the computational processes by determining layout data for construction
problems presented during the seminar. An important part of the
seminar is participation by attendees in making such calculations.
Each person should have a calculator with trigonometric functions
and have the book Construction Surveying and Layout. This
seminar is especially suited for the technicians who must make the
many calculations for construction layouts. It is also a good review
for licensed surveyors and engineers, as it provides a sound foundation
for teaching the computational procedures to layout personnel.
