The Construction Surveying
and Layout seminar is a basic review of the measurements and techniques
used in construction layout. It includes a discussion of fieldwork
basics, notekeeping, standard measurement practices, errors associated
with the measurements, mistakes commonly made in the measurements
and procedures (and how to avoid them), calibration and care of
instruments, construction measurement practices and layout techniques,
building control and layout, checks on layout, and one-person surveying
techniques. Numerous step-by-step procedures are presented and discussed.
The presentation is thorough in its approach to the many “rules-of-thumb”
of construction measurement. This seminar is suited for contractors,
field construction supervisors, construction inspectors, and construction
layout technicians, as well as experienced surveyors and engineers
involved with designing layout systems. It is especially helpful
to persons involved in training as it provides helpful suggestions
for teaching new persons entering the field. Attendees are expected
to have the book: Construction Surveying and Layout.
